Finding your Meta Pixel is done through your Meta Business Manager or Ads Manager account. This process is very similar to how you find your Google Analytics tag, and you'll be looking for a code snippet to install on your website.
Here's the step-by-step process to find your Meta Pixel:
1. Log into Meta Business Manager
Go to Meta for Business and log in with your Facebook account.
If you don't have a Business Manager account, you will need to create one first. This is a central hub for managing your Meta assets like your Facebook Page, ad accounts, and tracking pixels.
2. Navigate to Events Manager
In the left-hand navigation menu, you will see a series of icons. Click on the icon for "All Tools" (it looks like a grid or a hamburger menu).
From the expanded menu, find and click on "Events Manager." This is the hub for all your data sources, including pixels.
3. Find or Create Your Pixel
In Events Manager, you'll see a list of your data sources. If you already have a pixel, it will be listed there. You can identify it by its name or ID.
If you do not have a pixel yet, you'll need to create one. Click on the green "Connect Data Sources" button (or the "+" icon).
A pop-up will appear. Select "Web" as the data source and click "Connect."
You will be prompted to name your pixel. Choose a descriptive name, like "Your Business Website Pixel," and then enter your website's URL.
4. Get the Pixel Code
After you have a pixel set up, you need to find the code to install it on your website.
In the Events Manager, select your pixel from the list.
You will see a button labeled "Add Events" or "Manage Integrations." Click on it.
You will be given a few options for installation. The most common is "Install code manually" or "Install with a partner integration" (for platforms like Shopify or WordPress).
If you choose to "Install code manually," Meta will display the full code snippet that you need to copy. It will look like a block of JavaScript code and will contain your unique Pixel ID.
5. Copy and Install the Code
Click the "Copy Code" button to copy the entire snippet to your clipboard.
Just like the Google Analytics tag, you will need to pass this code to us (Estate Apps) to paste this code into the
<head>
section of every page on your website.
Tip: Use Google Tag Manager
For a cleaner and more efficient process, it is highly recommended to install the Meta Pixel using Google Tag Manager (GTM). Instead of pasting the code on every page of your site, you just need to add the Meta Pixel as a new tag within GTM and set it to fire on "All Pages."
This keeps your website's code clean and makes it easy to manage all your tracking codes in one place.
