Imagery for your website project (stock or custom)

Modified on Fri, 17 May at 6:48 PM

There are generally two types of imagery - custom or stock - or a mix of both.

We generally ask for at least 70+ images and then between you and ourselves, we can handpick our favourites to use throughout the different pages or sections where needed.

The crucial thing is that with any imagery, the orientation must be landscape and the minimum size needs to be 2000 pixels in width.

In terms of selecting a “theme”, you have 4 options:

  • Internal – Our personal favourite. Internal shots like living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms, gardens, home offices etc, give the user a comfy, warm family-friendly feel.
  • External – This is what we typically see on many agent sites and it doesn’t really “stand out” for us. They don't often have a "connection" with the user.
  • With People – It’s important to have the right balance here so bear that in mind.
  • Area Specific – Local landmarks, iconic spots. Offers a great localised feel which can really add personality to the site.

It's important to be consistent though so aim to pick one approach and stick with it.

Custom Imagery

Any custom imagery / files can be uploaded to your personal folder - a link to which would be provided by our team - or emailed to us via - https://wetransfer.com/.

Stock Imagery

The following are a couple of image resources that are popular and we use for a multitude of different purposes (all royalty-free) and great for ideas:

Both provide images and video that come at a cost however, we have an account with iStockPhoto so they are slightly cheaper than prices listed on the site and we pass this saving direct to you.

We have a whole bunch of images that we already purchased and we’re adding to this board all the time - https://www.istockphoto.com/collaboration/boards/cCj4_F9ye0WuwRVBpybmxw - so if you selected any of these, they'd be even cheaper.

Using iStockPhoto, in relation to sharing stock images, the simplest way to achieve this is to create a board and add all the images you like into it and then share that board with us. More details on this here - https://www.google.com/search?q=create+and+share+a+board+on+istockphoto.

If required, we can look for images for you but we’d need to charge a minimum of 2 hours (£120 excl. VAT) for the time taken to do this on your behalf.

We hope this proves useful!
